Julian Salomons - First Parliamentary Career

First Parliamentary Career

Salomons unsuccessfully ran for parliament in 1869 and instead became solicitor-general in December of that year. He held that position for nearly a year until Sir Charles Cowper took over from Sir John Robertson as premier. He was appointed as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council, a position he held for six months, before resigning on 14 February 1871.

Famous quotes containing the word career:

I doubt that I would have taken so many leaps in my own writing or been as clear about my feminist and political commitments if I had not been anointed as early as I was. Some major form of recognition seems to have to mark a woman’s career for her to be able to go out on a limb without having her credentials questioned.
    Ruth Behar (b. 1956)
