Legacy
Protection Island in the Strait of Juan de Fuca was given the name Isla de Carrasco in 1790. It was given its present by George Vancouver in 1792. Barkley Sound, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, was named Boca de Carrasco by the Spanish.
