The Joseph Vaz College of Wennappuwa (commonly known as Joseph Vaz College) was founded in January 1935. It is considered to be a leading Public School in Sri Lanka. It is a National School, meaning that it is funded by the central government as opposed to the Provincial Council providing both primary and secondary education; With a student population of almost 4000 and the tutorial staff consists of 120 teachers.
