José Guillén - Professional Career - San Francisco Giants

San Francisco Giants

On August 13, 2010, Guillén was traded to the San Francisco Giants for cash and a player to be named later, later chosen to be Kevin Pucetas. Guillén was placed on the restricted list of the Giants' postseason roster due to an ongoing investigation regarding the use of performance-enhancing drugs. Despite serving the postseason on the restricted list, the Giants eventually won the 2010 World Series.

Famous quotes containing the words san francisco, giants, san and/or francisco:

Mining today is an affair of mathematics, of finance, of the latest in engineering skill. Cautious men behind polished desks in San Francisco figure out in advance the amount of metal to a cubic yard, the number of yards washed a day, the cost of each operation. They have no need of grubstakes.
Merle Colby, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount.... The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants.
    Omar Bradley (1893–1981)

Today, San Francisco has experienced a double tragedy of incredible proportions. As acting mayor, I order an immediate state of mourning in our city. The city and county of San Francisco must and will pull itself together at this time. We will carry on as best as we possibly can.... I think we all have to share the same sense of shame and the same sense of outrage.
    Dianne Feinstein (b. 1933)

Mr. Wiggam, I want you to change the policy of The Clarion. I want you to write a story I should have written myself long ago. I want you to tell the people of San Francisco that no city can exist without law and order. Write a story about that flag, write about what verifies and brings a promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. There are some people in this town who don’t seem to know that. Let The Clarion tell them.
    Ben Hecht (1893–1964)
