Jonestown Conspiracy Theory

Jonestown conspiracy theory is a conspiracy theory about Jonestown and the Jonestown massacre, with many proponents of the conspiracy theory contending that outside forces were somehow involved in what occurred at the commune, including the massacre. The conspiracy theory is most often accompanied by the assertion that the events in Jonestown represented CIA efforts at mind control and/or similar modes of social experimentation, often believed by proponents of such theories to be a covert continuation of Project MKULTRA. It differs from "popular or scholarly explanations of what happened in Jonestown".

Famous quotes containing the words conspiracy and/or theory:

Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is in an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob, and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.
    Frederick Douglass (c.1817–1895)

We commonly say that the rich man can speak the truth, can afford honesty, can afford independence of opinion and action;—and that is the theory of nobility. But it is the rich man in a true sense, that is to say, not the man of large income and large expenditure, but solely the man whose outlay is less than his income and is steadily kept so.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
