On 24 September 2004, Jonathan married American actress Julianne Nicholson (born 1 July 1971) in Italy. His wife gave birth to their first child, a son named Ignatius Cake, in September 2007. Their daughter, Phoebe Margaret Cake, was born on 30 April 2009.
