Reception and Box Office

The film received mostly negative reviews from critics; it holds a 25% "Rotten" rating on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes based on 68 critics' reviews (15 fresh, 53 rotten). On Metacritic, the film has a score of 45 out of 100 based on 14 reviews. In general, critics panned the film for lacking appeal to any people outside the group's fan base.

It also is the #5 highest-grossing concert film following Michael Jackson's This Is It, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Katy Perry: Part of Me, and Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert (the group also starred in the latter film).

The film was nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2009 in 'Choice Movie: Music/Dance' and 'Choice Music Album: Soundtrack.' The film was also nominated for two razzie awards but only won one (Worst Actor).

Famous quotes containing the words reception, box and/or office:

    Satire is a sort of glass, wherein beholders do generally discover everybody’s face but their own; which is the chief reason for that kind of reception it meets in the world, and that so very few are offended with it.
    Jonathan Swift (1667–1745)

    Sweet spring, full of sweet days and roses,
    A box where sweets compacted lie;
    My music shows ye have your closes,
    And all must die.
    George Herbert (1593–1633)

    The House of Lords, architecturally, is a magnificent room, and the dignity, quiet, and repose of the scene made me unwillingly acknowledge that the Senate of the United States might possibly improve its manners. Perhaps in our desire for simplicity, absence of title, or badge of office we may have thrown over too much.
    M. E. W. Sherwood (1826–1903)
