John Suthers - Attorney General - Internet Safety

Internet Safety

At the time Suthers became Colorado’s 37th Attorney General, the state had no specific crimes concerning the conduct of online sexual predators. Suthers worked with the Colorado General Assembly in 2006 to pass Colorado’s Internet luring and sexual exploitation statutes. In the first two years of implementation, 250 alleged pedophiles were arrested on the new charges. Also as part of his efforts, Suthers launched a Safe Surfing Initiative to protect children from online predators.

Famous quotes containing the word safety:

[As teenager], the trauma of near-misses and almost- consequences usually brings us to our senses. We finally come down someplace between our parents’ safety advice, which underestimates our ability, and our own unreasonable disregard for safety, which is our childlike wish for invulnerability. Our definition of acceptable risk becomes a product of our own experience.
    Roger Gould (20th century)
