A combative & creative central midfielder, Neill started his senior career with Hearts, whome he joined from rivals Hibernian's youth initiative. He was loaned to Hamilton Academical between August and November 2006, making his senior professional debut, and also scoring, against Gretna in the Scottish Challenge Cup. He joined Raith Rovers, managed by former Hearts coach John McGlynn, again on loan, in early 2007. Playing a pivotal role in securing a play-off place that season before being recalled to Hearts FC.

Neill was released from his Hearts' contract on 31 August 2007 due to differences with the new coaching regime. He then played the remainder of the 07/08 season at Queen's Park, before signing on for another season. On 30 July 2010, he signed a 1 month deal with East Stirlingshire, and stayed at the club for the rest of the season.

Famous quotes containing the word career:

A black boxer’s career is the perfect metaphor for the career of a black male. Every day is like being in the gym, sparring with impersonal opponents as one faces the rudeness and hostility that a black male must confront in the United States, where he is the object of both fear and fascination.
    Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)

Like the old soldier of the ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who tried to do his duty as God gave him the light to see that duty. Goodbye.
    Douglas MacArthur (1880–1964)

My ambition in life: to become successful enough to resume my career as a neurasthenic.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
