Early Years
Michelosen is a native of the Pittsburgh suburb of Ambridge, Pennsylvania. Michelosen got his start in football playing quarterback at Ambridge High School, under legendary coach Maurice "Moe" Rubenstein. He attended the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) where he played for yet another legendary coach, Jock Sutherland. He played on Pitt's National Championship teams in 1936 and 1937 and was a team captain in 1937.
