In late December 2011, Lesch proposed to Melissa Reed, a lobbyist for the City of Minneapolis at the Minneapolis Holidazzle Parade, in the presence of Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybek, Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and a crowd of others. They married in September 2012. Lesch has been married previously and has a child by that previous marriage.
