John Hamilton (Kansas)

John D. M. Hamilton (c.1892-1973) was a Republican politician from the U.S. state of Kansas.

Hamilton of Topeka was chairman of the Kansas Republican Party in 1931 and chairman of the Republican National Committee from 1936-40. He was also a delegate to the 1936 and 1940 Republican National Conventions.

In 1940, Hamilton at the age of 48 resigned from the RNC and two days later married Jane Kendall Mason, 30 who a month earlier divorced George Grant Mason Jr., member of the Civil Aeronautics Board in Tampa, Florida. According to former first lady Grace Coolidge, Jane Kendall was "the most beautiful debutante who ever entered the White House".

His picture was on Time's cover on September 23, 1936.

Famous quotes containing the words john and/or hamilton:

Well, on the official record you’re my son. But on this post you’re just another trooper. You heard me tell the recruits what I need from them. Twice that I will expect from you.... You’ve chosen my way of life. I hope you have the guts enough to endure it. But put outa your mind any romantic ideas that it’s a way to glory. It’s a life of suffering and of hardship and uncompromising devotion to your oath and your duty.
James Kevin McGuinness, and John Ford. Lt. Col. Kirby Yorke (John Wayne)

Through Plato Aristotle came to believe in God, but Plato never attempted to prove His reality. Aristotle had to do so. Plato contemplated Him; Aristotle produced arguments to demonstrate Him. Plato never defined Him, but Aristotle thought God through logically and concluded with entire satisfaction to himself that He was the Unmoved Mover.
    —Edith Hamilton (1867–1963)
