Retirement and Death
He retired November 20, 1918 and after requesting to come back, was recalled from July 26, 1920 – September 15, 1920.
He died in St. Louis, Missouri on September 9, 1922 at the age of 52 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Jennings, Missouri. His grave can be found in section 3, lot 343, grave 7.
