Famous quotes containing the words john, kennedy and/or memorial:
“The very fact that there are experts may be intimidating; we hate to think that there must be one best way to handle any situation as parents and that we dont know what it is. So as we get more and more advice we seem less and less sure of what we ought to do for our children.”
—C. John Sommerville (20th century)
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
—Bible: Hebrew Proverbs, 29:18.
President John F. Kennedy quoted this passage on the eve of his assassination in Dallas, Texas; recorded in Theodore C. Sorensons biography, Kennedy, Epilogue (1965)
“I hope there will be no effort to put up a shaft or any monument of that sort in memory of me or of the other women who have given themselves to our work. The best kind of a memorial would be a school where girls could be taught everything useful that would help them to earn an honorable livelihood; where they could learn to do anything they were capable of, just as boys can. I would like to have lived to see such a school as that in every great city of the United States.”
—Susan B. Anthony (18201906)
