- The IAV Dortmunder is shown to be the name of an Alliance Capital Cruiser on the television show Firefly. This is possibly a reference to the fact that the main cast consists of thieves and crooks, in the same vein as Dortmunder himself.
- Dortmunder also makes a cameo appearance in Spider Robinson's Lady Slings the Booze. Late in the novel, the hero takes out a copy of Good Behavior and reads several chapters.
