Early Life
Sir John was the son of Sir John Cornewaille, who had been in service to Francis II, Duke of Brittany, and his wife, a niece of the Duke of Brittany. He was born aboard a ship which was docked in Mount's Bay, in Cornwall, and baptized at Marazion, in England. He was a noted "Master of grammar" and had a great influence on the teaching English in schools. See also John Trevisa.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:
“I dont believe one grows older. I think that what happens early on in life is that at a certain age one stands still and stagnates.”
—T.S. (Thomas Stearns)
“Bourgeois society is infected by monomania: the monomania of accounting. For it, the only thing that has value is what can be counted in francs and centimes. It never hesitates to sacrifice human life to figures which look well on paper, such as national budgets or industrial balance sheets.”
—Simone Weil (19091943)
