The hosts eschew any party labels or loyalties, and were not politically involved prior to their experience in New Jersey. Kobylt has indicated that his role is "to identify who the bad guy is and what the bad act is so that people feel it viscerally... pointing out how they were screwed in some way."
Mostly fiscally conservative on issues like taxes, they also frequently lean conservative with regard to crime. They are staunch opponents of illegal immigration and government employee labor unions. They support strong sentences for child molesters and murderers, the death penalty, Megan's Law and Jessica's Law. They also oppose driver's licenses for illegal immigrants. They are libertarian in other aspects, such as being pro-choice, supporting gays in the military and gay marriage, opposing the influence of the Religious Right on American politics, opposing the Iraq War, opposing funds for public transportation, and opposing tax increases. "Big government" positions they take include further construction of freeways, funding for embryonic stem cell research, an enhanced federal role in emergency preparedness for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), increased federal law enforcement on the border. They tend to be moderate to liberal on the use of marijuana. Kobylt came under fire for comments regarding the fashion industry, suggesting that gay men, who Kobylt proclaimed 'control the industry', "like bodies that remind them of a 14 year old-boy". Ironically, they opposed Proposition 187 when it first came out, later coming to an anti-illegal immigration viewpoint after continued prodding from listeners.
In the 2006 elections in California, they endorsed six Republicans and one Democrat in statewide races. In 2007, Kobylt appeared at a fundraiser for Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani. In 2008, they opposed Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage within California.
One notable disagreement between the two was in the 2008 presidential election, where Kobylt voted for John McCain while Chiampou voted for Barack Obama. The two then discussed the merits of their candidates and defended their choices. Kobylt spoke about McCain's history of opposing wasteful spending while Chiampou stated how he felt that Obama was best suited to bring meaningful reform after what both agreed was a need to break away from the shortcomings of the Bush years.

Famous quotes containing the words political and/or views:
“The heritage of the American Revolution is forgotten, and the American government, for better and for worse, has entered into the heritage of Europe as though it were its patrimonyunaware, alas, of the fact that Europes declining power was preceded and accompanied by political bankruptcy, the bankruptcy of the nation-state and its concept of sovereignty.”
—Hannah Arendt (19061975)
“Parents must begin to discover their children as individuals of developing tastes and views and so help them be, and see, themselves as thinking, feeling people. It is far too easy for a middle-years child to absorb an over-simplified picture of himself as a sloppy, unreliable, careless, irresponsible, lazy creature and not much morean attitude toward himself he will carry far beyond these years.”
—Dorothy H. Cohen (20th century)
