Joel Anthony - Team Canada

Team Canada

Anthony made his Canadian national basketball team debut in the summer of 2008. He made a tremendous impact on the court for the Canadians, by setting both scoring and shot blocking records for an individual game. Canada however failed to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.

The following summer Anthony participated in the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship. He helped lead Canada to a 4th place finish, losing in the 3rd place game to Argentina. Anthony had his best performance Canada's semi-final loss to Brazil in which Joel posted team highs with 17 points and 8 rebounds.

In the summer of 2010 Anthony once again competed for Canada in the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Canada finished with 5 losses out of 5 games, Canada's worst ever performance in the international tournament.

Relying on any one disciplinary approach—time-out, negotiation, tough love, the star system—puts the parenting team at risk. Why? Because children adapt to any method very quickly; today’s effective technique becomes tomorrow’s worn dance.
    Ron Taffel (20th century)

Canadians look down on the United States and consider it Hell. They are right to do so. Canada is to the United States what, in Dante’s scheme, Limbo is to Hell.
    Irving Layton (b. 1912)
