Early Life

Little is recorded about Philip's early life, but it is known that he was a native Aberdonian, that he had a wide range of sporting interests, and that he had proposed to underwrite the very first overseas tour by a Scottish international team. He was also a referee, although by profession he was a wood-turner.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:

I got a little secretarial job after college, but I thought of it as a prelude. Education, work, whatever you did before marriage, was only a prelude to your real life, which was marriage.
    Bonnie Carr (c. early 1930s)

My prime of youth is but a frost of cares,
My feast of joy is but a dish of pain,
My crop of corn is but a field of tares,
And all my good is but vain hope of gain:
The day is past, and yet I saw no sun,
And now I live, and now my life is done.
    Chidiock Tichborne (1558–1586)
