Jimmy Flynt - Politics

Politics

Flynt is a Democrat and has long been a staunch defender of privacy and free speech, and a frequent ally of the ACLU on those issues. Hustler Magazine has repeatedly weighed in on public debates by trying to expose conservative or republican politicians with sexual scandals. In 1998, during the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton, Hustler offered $1 million for each unflattering sexual story about republican members of congress and published the results in The Flynt Report. These publications led to the resignation of incoming House Speaker Bob Livingston. In 2007, Larry Flynt repeated the $1 million offer and also wrote the foreword to Joseph Minton Amann and Tom Breuer's The Brotherhood of Disappearing Pants: A Field Guide to Conservative Sex Scandals.

Famous quotes containing the word politics:

The newspaper reader says: this party is destroying itself through such mistakes. My higher politics says: a party that makes such mistakes is finished—it has lost its instinctive sureness.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

I believe you to be a brave and a skillful soldier, which, of course, I like. I also believe you do not mix politics with your profession, in which you are right.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

The average Kentuckian may appear a bit confused in his knowledge of history, but he is firmly certain about current politics. Kentucky cannot claim first place in political importance, but it tops the list in its keen enjoyment of politics for its own sake. It takes the average Kentuckian only a matter of moments to dispose of the weather and personal helath, but he never tires of a political discussion.
