Jim Langley - Post Playing Career

Post Playing Career

Langley retired in 1971 and became a coach at Crystal Palace before returning to Hillingdon Borough as a club administrator. He appears to have had one last sojourn in management for Dulwich Hamlet in the latter part of the 1976/77 season where he strived, ultimately fruitlessly, to prevent their relegation into the Second Division of the Isthmian League. Jim Langley died in London at the age of 78. Six days after his death his former club Fulham did a minutes silence before their home match with Newcastle United.

Famous quotes containing the words post, playing and/or career:

To the old saying that man built the house but woman made of it a “home” might be added the modern supplement that woman accepted cooking as a chore but man has made of it a recreation.
    —Emily Post (1873–1960)

Sometimes, because of its immediacy, television produces a kind of electronic parable. Berlin, for instance, on the day the Wall was opened. Rostropovich was playing his cello by the Wall that no longer cast a shadow, and a million East Berliners were thronging to the West to shop with an allowance given them by West German banks! At that moment the whole world saw how materialism had lost its awesome historic power and become a shopping list.
    John Berger (b. 1926)

I’ve been in the twilight of my career longer than most people have had their career.
    Martina Navratilova (b. 1956)
