The culture of Jharsuguda is Oriya. Following is a list of major festivals celebrated in the town.
- Nuakhai: This is an important festival for the people of Western Orissa. All the persons of a family gather during this period and eat together. After that, the younger take the blessings of elders and dance with friends.
- Bhai Jauntia: A Festival observe by the sisters of this region in which sister prays betterment of the brother.
- Rath Yatra: Rath Yatra is celebrated in the town.
- Durga Puja: Durga Puja has been celebrated in public pandals in the town for more than half a century.
- Ganesh Puja: A 10-day public celebration of Ganesh Puja.
- Kirtan (Sarbahal, Sahapada and Buromal): People pray to Krishna and Ram. Villagers of Beherapat celebrate asta prahar nama yangya since1966.
