Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sarker, a most senior professor of Bangladesh Agricultural University was appointed the first vice chancellor and project director of this university. On April 2009, Prof Dr. M. Abdus Sattar, who is one of the well-recognized professors of the department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology, and former treasurer of Islamic University, Kushtia, was appointed as the new vice-chancellor.
