Jeremy Staunton

Jeremy Staunton (born 7 May 1980) is an Irish rugby union fly-half, currently playing for English club Leicester Tigers in the top level of English rugby, the Aviva Premiership. He has also played for Ireland.

He was educated at St Munchin's College Limerick.

Staunton began his Rugby career with his local team Galbally RFC in Co. Limerick, Ireland. Later, he played for Garryowen Football Club in the AIB League before earning a contract with Munster. Seeing his opportunities limited behind Ronan O'Gara he joined Harlequins in the summer of 2004 before moving on to London Wasps in the summer of 2005. He was part of the Wasps side that won the Powergen Anglo-Welsh cup in 2006, beating the Llanelli Scarlets at Twickenham Stadium. Staunton signed for London Irish at the end of the 2006–2007 season, but was re-signed on loan by Wasps on 12 February 2008, for the remainder of the season, and renewed his contract with Wasps for the 2008–2009 season. He moved to Leicester in the summer of 2009 as cover for the injured Toby Flood. He has renewed his contract to keep him at Leicester until the end of the 2011/2012 season.

In June 2006 Staunton toured New Zealand and Australia with Ireland. In June 2007 prior to the Rugby World Cup he started at Fly half for Ireland on their tour of Argentina.
