Jeremy Lion

Jeremy Lion is a character created by British actor and comedian Justin Edwards.

Lion is an alcoholic children's entertainer with a terrifying array of props, and a great fondness for Tia Maria and Matchmakers. In his original shows he was accompanied on piano by the sour faced Leslie but in later shows, Jeremy Lion - For Your Entertainment, and "Jeremy Lion Goes Green" he is accompanied by an ex school teacher, Hilary Cox.

Jeremy first appeared at the Edinburgh Festival in 2002, as part of The Consultants show "Finger In The Wind", which won the Perrier Best Newcomer award. He went on to appear at the fringe for the next three years, being nominated for the main Perrier Award in 2005, and winning the Chortle Award for "Best Character Act" in 2004 and 2006. He appeared at the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2006.

In Autumn 2006, the full length show "Jeremy Lion For Your Entertainment" was staged at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London. Jeremy will be returning to the Edinburgh Festival in 2010 with "Jeremy Lion Goes Green"

His most notable television performances have been on Saturday Night Live and Edinburgh and Beyond performing "The Twelve Days Of Christmas" and "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". A sitcom pilot was filmed for ITV in 2007 co-starring Miranda Hart but remains un-commissioned.

Famous quotes containing the word lion:

Here in the centre stands the glass. Light
Is the lion that comes down to drink. There
And in that state, the glass is a pool.
Ruddy are his eyes and ruddy are his claws
When light comes down to wet his frothy jaws
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
