Early Life
Hiloudaki was born in Sitia on the Greek island of Crete and was named Yiannis (Greek for "John"), in honor of her deceased father, who had drowned at sea when attempting to rescue a woman. At an early age, Yiannis identified the need to pursue a gender transition and was able to obtain female hormones at the age of thirteen. The name "Jenny" was chosen to honor her sister, Eugenia, who supported their family when they moved to Athens. Hiloudaki went on to complete sex reassignment surgery at Charing Cross Hospital, in the United Kingdom, when she was twenty years old.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:
“Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a mans training begins, its probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly.”
—Thomas Henry Huxley (182595)
“... a business career for a woman and her need for a womans life as wife and mother, are not enemies at all, unless we make them so, but may be the closest and most co-operative friends and supporter of each other.”
—Hortense Odlum (1892?)
