Jefferson Community College (New York) - Campus Life

Campus Life

Although this is only a two year college the students and staff try to make it feel more like a regular four year college, including all the activities that go on campus. The student activities board try to get a musical show every semester, one in the fall and one in the spring. In the recent year they have gotten Theory of a Deadman, Saving Abel, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus to perform. They also have many comedians and smaller musicians come to perform in the student lounge. At the end of the first week in the fall they have a Fall Fest,to welcome the students back, which usually includes performers, free food, free activities. In the springtime there is the Spring Fiesta which is similar.

Housing

Since this is only a community school for two years there is no dorms, there are apartments close by to possibly help the students with housing issues.

Services

This school is more than willing to aid their students in anyway. Each student has an advisor that will; help them choose the right classes they need, help with any financial aid issues, and any other issues revolving their education that may come up. When enrolled in the school the students are given access to Blackboard Learning Management System, which they can log in to find their grades, campus activities and their school email. There is a health clinic located on campus, along with personal/psychological counseling to help out the students. As far as parents with little children that is what the John T. Henderson Child Care Center is for. Child care is available in the fall and spring semesters, for children from 21 months to five years.

Famous quotes containing the word life:

Just as we need to encourage women to test life’s many options, we need to acknowledge real limits of energy and resources. It would be pointless and cruel to prescribe role combination for every woman at each moment of her life. Life has its seasons. There are moments when a woman ought to invest emotionally in many different roles, and other moments when she may need to conserve her psychological energies.
    Faye J. Crosby (20th century)
