No doubt they rose up early to observe
    The rite of May.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Every time an ashtray is missing from a hotel, they don’t come looking for you. But let a diamond bracelet disappear in France and they shout John Robie, the Cat. You don’t have to spend every day of your life proving your honesty, but I do.
    John Michael Hayes (b.1919)

When you’re right in the market, it’s the best high you can imagine. It’s a high without any alcohol. When you’re wrong, it’s the lowest low you can imagine.
    Michelle Miller (b. c. 1950)

    And Guidobaldo, when he made
    That grammar school of courtesies
Where wit and beauty learned their trade
    Upon Urbino’s windy hill,
Had sent no runners to and fro
That he might learn the shepherds’ will.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
