Coordinates: 37°12′N 94°20′W / 37.20°N 94.34°W / 37.20; -94.34 Jasper County is a county located in Southwest Missouri. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the county had a population of 117,404. Its county seat is Carthage, making it one of the few counties whose largest city, Joplin, is not the county seat. The county was organized in 1841 and named for William Jasper, a hero of the American Revolutionary War.
Jasper County is the central hub of the Joplin Metropolitan Area.
