Gann resides in West Hollywood, California. An animal lover, he is a celebrity spokesperson for multiple animal rights groups including Stray Cat Alliance in Los Angeles, California.
In 2007, Gann was involved in a civil legal case regarding payment of medical expenses to the victim of an alleged assault. Bus driver Joseph Hosny claimed that after being refused entry to a bus, Gann punched him repeatedly. Hosny also argued that this incident caused depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, leaving him unable to work for over five years. Gann pled guilty and was ordered to pay $325,000 to Hosny.
Gann was awarded the Australian GQ Comedian of the Year Award for 2011, and was nominated for the annual Golden Collar Award, normally given solely to canine performers.
