Public Parks
Janakpuri has close to 100 small, medium and large parks. Janakpuri is divided into blocks, each main block A, B, C and D have all large parks under DDA. B Block District Park is spread over 25 Acres is not well maintained but C-Block District Park is spread over 15 acres and is very well maintained. An estimated 10,000 people converge at B-Block and C-Block District parks for their morning walk between 4:30 AM and 9:00 AM every single day.It is however to be noted that as darkness falls, both the District Parks becomes quite unsafe and incidents of sexual encounters amongst unconsenting males are not uncommon, these activities usually take place in sync with the beats from the nearby musical fountain.( Sangitmay Fowwara) Generally in Janakpuri parks under DDA are not well maintained but small parks lying under jurisdiction of MCD are very well maintained those RWA's which are active in taking work from DDA get well maintained parks otherwise less active RWA's sleep over dillapilated condition of colony parks. Inside blocks there are good parks like in C4D block.

Famous quotes containing the words public and/or parks:
“The last public hanging in the State took place in 1835 on Prince Hill.... On the fatal day, the victim, a man named Watkins, peering through the iron bars of his cell, and seeing the townfolk scurrying to the place of execution, is said to have remarked, Why is everyone running? Nothing can happen until I get there.”
—Administration for the State of Con, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
“Towns are full of people, houses full of tenants, hotels full of guests, trains full of travelers, cafés full of customers, parks full of promenaders, consulting-rooms of famous doctors full of patients, theatres full of spectators, and beaches full of bathers. What previously was, in general, no problem, now begins to be an everyday one, namely, to find room.”
—José Ortega Y Gasset (18831955)
