James Steuart (economist)

Sir James Steuart, 3rd Baronet of Goodtrees and eventually 7th Baronet of Coltness; late in life Sir James Steuart Denham, also called Sir James Denham Steuart (21 October 1713, Edinburgh – 26 November 1780, Coltness, Lanarkshire) was a prominent Jacobite, who wrote one of the first noteworthy books in English about economics. He assumed the surname of Denham late in life; he inherited his cousin's baronetcy of Coltness in 1773.
