James Lick High School - Testing at James Lick

Testing At James Lick

At James Lick and many other schools, students need to take the CELDT test. It is for students whose second language is English. CEDLT testing is to figure out how well students know English.

In all California’s schools, all students have to take the Star test. The STAR test score will stay in the students’ record, and that the student can not retake it. The score helps decide what classes students need for the next year. The scores tell how schools are moving forward and if teachers are doing good teaching.

James Lick remains below state averages in a variety of areas. The state API (Academic Performance Index) goal is 800, while in 2007 James Lick only attained 632. The 2004 API score of the entire school was 587. Academically, it is widely considered below other schools in the area such as Mt. Pleasant and Independence High School.

Famous quotes containing the words testing and/or lick:

Today so much rebellion is aimless and demoralizing precisely because children have no values to challenge. Teenage rebellion is a testing process in which young people try out various values in order to make them their own. But during those years of trial, error, embarrassment, a child needs family standards to fall back on, reliable habits of thought and feeling that provide security and protection.
    Neil Kurshan (20th century)

I like to see it lap the Miles—
    And lick the Valleys up—
    Emily Dickinson (1830–1886)
