James C. Stevens

James C. Stevens (b. July 27, 1953; Miami Springs, Florida) is a chemist, a Corporate Fellow, at the Dow Chemical Company. His area of expertise is organometallic chemistry and his primary field of research is in the area of polyolefin catalysis, particularly in the area of polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene/styrene copolymers, and the combinatorial discovery of organometallic single-site catalysts. Stevens major contributions have come in the discovery and commercial implementation of single-site polyolefin catalysts. He invented and led the commercialization of constrained geometry catalyst for the polymerization of olefins. These have been commercialized by Dow as a number of polymers, elastomers and plostomers.

Stevens is currently leading efforts in the development of photovoltaic materials based on earth abundant elements.

Famous quotes containing the words james and/or stevens:

It is not women’s fault if we are so tender. It is in the nature of the lives we live. And further, it would be a terrible catastrophe if men had to live men’s lives and women’s also. Which is precisely what has happened today—to women.
    —Selma James (b. 1930)

Some things, niƱo, some things are like this,
That instantly and in themselves they are gay
And you and I are such things, O most miserable . . .
    —Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
