- In 2009, Murphy received the Fight Crime Invest in Kids Award for his work protecting New York's Children.
- In 2009, he received the Distinguished Service Commendation from the Saratoga Springs Police Department for raising the standards for prosecutors and dramatically increasing the number of cases prosecuted.
- In 2004, he received the Child Advocate of the Year award from Saratoga Center for the Family for his help in raising over $1.2 million to build a Child Advocacy Center (CAC) for the treatment, support and care of young victims of sexual abuse and assault.
