- In 2009, Murphy received the Fight Crime Invest in Kids Award for his work protecting New York's Children.
- In 2009, he received the Distinguished Service Commendation from the Saratoga Springs Police Department for raising the standards for prosecutors and dramatically increasing the number of cases prosecuted.
- In 2004, he received the Child Advocate of the Year award from Saratoga Center for the Family for his help in raising over $1.2 million to build a Child Advocacy Center (CAC) for the treatment, support and care of young victims of sexual abuse and assault. The CAC was created specifically so that counseling, medical personnel and law enforcement can convene at a single location to deliver services.
