Later Career

In 1997 Quinn left the White House and went back to Arnold and Porter.

He later founded Quinn Gillespie & Associates, a public affairs and public relations firm with Ed Gillespie, a leading Republican operative. The two met as adversaries on Tony Snow's Fox News talk show. Their partnership is considered an early example of the trend towards an interdisciplinary and bipartisan "one-stop shopping" approach to lobbying. It has experienced a rapid increase in revenues .

He has served on the Boards of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (in 1997 and 1998), Fannie Mae (from 1997 to 2000) and the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial. More recently he joined the board of Academi, a private security company that had been purchased in December 2010 from the owners of the Blackwater USA security firm. He serves there as an independent director, along with retired Admiral and deputy CIA Director Bobby Inman, and former Attorney General John Ashcroft.
