Jack Flannery - Death

Death

The track announcer at the Crandon's 2008 Borg-Warner World Championship race on Labor Day weekend announced that he has been suffering effects of cancer. He died on April 6, 2010.

Former Flannery competitors spoke about him after his death. NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson described his truck, "...when that truck went by, you knew who it was... had everyone scared and put on one hell of a show". Walker Evans said " had a lot of natural ability to drive. Jack set some pretty high standards... Jack was probably my most fierce competition that I ever dreamed of at Crandon."

Famous quotes containing the word death:

I mourn the safe and motherly old middle-class queen, who held the nation warm under the fold of her big, hideous Scotch-plaid shawl and whose duration had been so extraordinarily convenient and beneficent. I felt her death much more than I should have expected; she was a sustaining symbol—and the wild waters are upon us now.
    Henry James (1843–1916)

Taking a child to the toy store is the nearest thing to a death wish parents can have.
    Fred G. Gosman (20th century)

There is a rhythm to the ending of a marriage just like the rhythm of a courtship—only backward. You try to start again but get into blaming over and over. Finally you are both worn out, exhausted, hopeless. Then lawyers are called in to pick clean the corpses. The death has occurred much earlier.
    Erica Jong (b. 1942)
