"It's the End of the World" is the 16th episode of the second season of the ABC series, Grey's Anatomy. The episode was written by Shonda Rhimes and directed by Peter Horton. This episode is the first of a two-part story. It originally aired on February 5, 2006, running for 43:11 min, immediately following Super Bowl XL (which was broadcast on ABC), and was watched by 38.1 million viewers. It is the most watched episode of the program to date.

The episode (along with its second part, "As We Know It") secured writer Shonda Rhimes a 2006 Primetime Emmy Award nomination in the Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series category.
