Famous quotes containing the words hard, goodbye and/or yesterday:

Machinery that gives us abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent, and all will be lost.
    Charlie Chaplin (1889–1977)

The colicky baby who becomes calm, the quiet infant who throws temper tantrums at two, the wild child at four who becomes serious and studious at six all seem to surprise their parents. It is difficult to let go of one’s image of a child, say goodbye to the child a parent knows, and get accustomed to this slightly new child inhabiting the known child’s body.
    Ellen Galinsky (20th century)

The present is the ever moving shadow that divides yesterday from tomorrow. In that lies hope.
    Frank Lloyd Wright (1869–1959)
