It's My Party (song) - The Sequel: "Judy's Turn To Cry"

The Sequel: "Judy's Turn To Cry"

Because of the pop cultural obsession with the song and its tragic nature, Gore recorded a sequel titled "Judy's Turn to Cry". In this song, the teenage girl narrator gets her revenge on Judy. In the lyrics the narrator explicitly finds "foolish" how much she cried when she saw Johnny and Judy together, and seems determined to start anew. But after she kisses another boy at another party, Johnny returns to her.

Though "Judy's Turn to Cry" was not quite as popular as "It's My Party", it did reach No. 5 on the Billboard charts in the summer of 1963.

Famous quotes containing the words turn and/or cry:

To us, men of the West, a very strange thing happened at the turn of the century; without noticing it, we lost science, or at least the thing that had been called by that name for the last four centuries. What we now have in place of it is something different, radically different, and we don’t know what it is. Nobody knows what it is.
    Simone Weil (1909–1943)

    Grusinskaya: You must go now.
The Baron: I’m not going. You know I’m not going. Oh, please let me stay.
Grusinskaya: But I want to be alone.
The Baron: That isn’t true. You don’t want to be alone. You were in despair just now. I can’t leave you now. You mustn’t cry anymore. You must forget. Let me stay for just a little while. Ahh, please let me stay.
Grusinskaya: For just a minute then.
    William A. Drake (1900–1965)
