Time Magazine Article
In October 2002 Issa Khan was the subject of a Time magazine article.
Khan's first letter from Guantanamo, received by his family almost a year after his capture, was one of the first letters from a Guantanamo captive to be publicized. It began
"Kind Father, Mother & Sisters. I'm in the United States. I've been arrested. I hope I'll be released soon, since I'm innocent."
His family described Khan as a homeopathic doctor, who had traveled to Mazari Sharif with his new wife to show off their new baby to her family there, when war struck, and he was rounded up Northern Alliance forces because he was a member of the Pashtun ethnic group.

Famous quotes containing the words time, magazine and/or article:
“There comes a time in the affairs of men when they must prepare to defend not their homes alone but the tenets of faith and humanity on which their churches, their governments and their very foundations are set. The defense of religion, of democracy and of good faith among nations is all the same fight. To save one, we must now make up our minds to save all.”
—Franklin D. Roosevelt (18821945)
“The ease with which problems are understood and solved on paper, in books and magazine articles, is never matched by the reality of the mothers experience. . . . Her childs behavior often does not follow the storybook version. Her own feelings dont match the way she has been told she ought to feel. . . . There is something wrong with either her child or her, she thinks. Either way, she accepts the blame and guilt.”
—Elaine Heffner (20th century)
“Reviews and magazines are at best ephemeral & superficial reading. Who thinks of the grand article of last year in any given review?”
—George Gordon Noel Byron (17881824)
