Iowa Highway 100 - Future Expansion

Future Expansion

Currently, plans are under consideration to extend Iowa Highway 100 from Edgewood Road NW to the south and west to have it meet with U.S. Route 30 / U.S. Route 218 in western Linn County. This would provide a four lane bypass around the entire city. The proposed expansion has proven to be controversial, with the Linn County Conservation Board worried about environmental impact such an expansion would have on the area - especially the Rock Island Forest Preserve. As a result it is now believed that such an expansion would not be open before 2016.

Famous quotes containing the words future and/or expansion:

We live in an age when to be young and to be indifferent can be no longer synonymous. We must prepare for the coming hour. The claims of the Future are represented by suffering millions; and the Youth of a Nation are the trustees of Posterity.
    Benjamin Disraeli (1804–1881)

Every expansion of government in business means that government in order to protect itself from the political consequences of its errors and wrongs is driven irresistibly without peace to greater and greater control of the nation’s press and platform. Free speech does not live many hours after free industry and free commerce die.
    Herbert Hoover (1874–1964)
