Investors Bank & Trust

Investors Bank & Trust

Investors Bank & Trust or IBT was a custodian bank, and the principal operating subsidiary of Investors Financial Services Corp., (previously NASDAQ: IFIN), a holding company based in Boston, Massachusetts. First founded in 1969 as an offshoot of Eaton Vance, the company was purchased by State Street Corporation in 2007 as an all-stock deal valued at nearly $4.5 billion and no longer operates as a separate listed company. State Street refers informally to the former IBT operation as "State Street Back Bay".

IBT's headquarters were located within the landmark John Hancock Tower designed by I.M. Pei, where it was chief tenant. Some of IBT's more well-known clients included Aegon, Barclays Global Investors, Eaton Vance, and MassMutual.

Famous quotes containing the words bank and/or trust:

A man’s labour is not only his capital but his life. When it passes it returns never more. To utilise it, to prevent its wasteful squandering, to enable the poor man to bank it up for use hereafter, this surely is one of the most urgent tasks before civilisation.
    William Booth (1829–1912)

    For Nature ever faithful is
To such as trust her faithfulness.
When the forest shall mislead me,
When the night and morning lie,
When the sea and land refuse to feed me,
‘Twill be time enough to die.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
