Inverness - Climate

Climate

In common with all of the British Isles, Inverness has an oceanic climate. Despite its northerly location, the climate is surprisingly mild due to its low lying, coastal position - in an average year under 40 frosts will be recorded. Its sheltered location makes it one of the driest areas in Scotland.

Famous quotes containing the word climate:

Culture is the name for what people are interested in, their thoughts, their models, the books they read and the speeches they hear, their table-talk, gossip, controversies, historical sense and scientific training, the values they appreciate, the quality of life they admire. All communities have a culture. It is the climate of their civilization.
    Walter Lippmann (1889–1974)

Is not their climate foggy, raw, and dull,
On whom, as in despite, the sun looks pale,
    Killing their fruit with frowns?
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

There is much to be said against the climate on the coast of British Columbia and Alaska; yet, I believe that the scenery of one good day will compensate the tourists who will go there in increasing numbers.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)
