International Endowment For Democracy - Founding of The IED

Founding of The IED

The IED was first funded by a handful of left-wing intellectuals (professors, lawyers, journalists, authors) in 2006 and was shaped by an initial study undertaken by them as early as 2005.

IED was founded with a view of creating a broad base of international support for the organization. IED received funds from people in Canada, India, Europe, etc. and is meant to distribute funds to other organizations (where money goes).

IED's first president is the university professor Bertell Ollman.

Famous quotes containing the word founding:

The Founding Fathers in their wisdom decided that children were an unnatural strain on parents. So they provided jails called schools, equipped with tortures called an education. School is where you go between when your parents can’t take you and industry can’t take you.
    John Updike (b. 1932)
