It was represented on the Intercollegiate Board for Training in Intensive Care until responsibility for design and accreditation of training in Intensive Care Medicine passed to the new Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine.
The society is based at Churchill House in London, also home to the Royal College of Anaesthetists, The College of Emergency Medicine & the British Association for Emergency Medicine and the British Pain Society. The Society's patron is HRH The Princess Royal.
Famous quotes containing the words intensive, care and/or society:
“We have to transpose ourselves into this impressionability of mind, into this sensitivity to tears and spiritual repentance, into this susceptibility, before we can judge how colorful and intensive life was then.”
—Johan Huizinga (18721945)
“If a madman were to come into this room with a stick in his hand, no doubt we should pity the state of his mind; but our primary consideration would be to take care of ourselves. We should knock him down first, and pity him afterwards.”
—Samuel Johnson (17091784)
“In the society of men the truth resides now less in what things are than in what they are not. Our social realities are so ugly if seen in the light of exiled truth, and beauty is no longer possible if it is not a lie.”
—R.D. (Ronald David)
