Criticism of Objectivity
Critics of the book have alleged that Sherwood has strong ties to the Unification Church that preclude objectivity, though there has never been proof of any of these ties. Frontline reported that “Alfred Regnery, was told by Carlton Sherwood that the Moon Organization would purchase one hundred thousand copies of Inquisition – at least according to former Washington Times editor James Whelan, another Regnery-Gateway author. But Alfred Regnery denies it.”
Sherwood had previously worked for the Washington Times, owned by members of the Unification Church. Sherwood writes in his book, that he did not have any ties to Unification Church before he decided to investigate rumors touching Unification Church. He tried to investigate next case of corruption as in case of Paulines or LaSalette Fathers, which brings to him the Pulitzer Prize. He have no doubts that Moon is guilty and Sherwood's employment in Washington times was part of the investigation. The result of his investigation was different from his plan. He did not discover yet another case of church corruption, but story how American criminal system can be shamefully misused to persecute religion and its leaders.
In the story "The Resurrection Of Reverend Moon" (January 21, 1992), the PBS television series Frontline produced a copy of a letter addressed to Moon, written by James Gavin, a leader in the Unification Church. Gavin tells Moon he reviewed the "overall tone and factual contents" of the book before publication and suggested revisions. Gavin adds that "Mr. Sherwood has assured me that all this will be done when the manuscript is sent to the publisher." Gavin concludes by telling Moon, "When all of our suggestions have been incorporated, the book will be complete and in my opinion will make a significant impact.... In addition to silencing our critics now, the book should be invaluable in persuading others of our legitimacy for many years to come."

Famous quotes containing the words criticism of, criticism and/or objectivity:
“Cubism had been an analysis of the object and an attempt to put it before us in its totality; both as analysis and as synthesis, it was a criticism of appearance. Surrealism transmuted the object, and suddenly a canvas became an apparition: a new figuration, a real transfiguration.”
—Octavio Paz (b. 1914)
“However intense my experience, I am conscious of the presence and criticism of a part of me, which, as it were, is not a part of me, but a spectator, sharing no experience, but taking note of it, and that is no more I than it is you. When the play, it may be the tragedy, of life is over, the spectator goes his way. It was a kind of fiction, a work of the imagination only, so far as he was concerned.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Institutions of higher education in the United States are products of Western society in which masculine values like an orientation toward achievement and objectivity are valued over cooperation, connectedness and subjectivity.”
—Yolanda Moses (b. 1946)
