Inherent Vice - Film Adaptation

Film Adaptation

In early 2011 it was reported that Academy Award nominated writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, The Master) would adapt Inherent Vice into a feature film. Anderson's script for the film reportedly has the blessing of Pynchon himself. The film will reunite Anderson with his lead from 2012's The Master, Joaquin Phoenix.

Famous quotes containing the words film and/or adaptation:

The woman’s world ... is shown as a series of limited spaces, with the woman struggling to get free of them. The struggle is what the film is about; what is struggled against is the limited space itself. Consequently, to make its point, the film has to deny itself and suggest it was the struggle that was wrong, not the space.
    Jeanine Basinger (b. 1936)

In youth the human body drew me and was the object of my secret and natural dreams. But body after body has taken away from me that sensual phosphorescence which my youth delighted in. Within me is no disturbing interplay now, but only the steady currents of adaptation and of sympathy.
    Haniel Long (1888–1956)
