Famous quotes containing the word content:
“Whoever is content with the world, and who profits from its lack of justice, does not want to change it.”
—Friedrich Dürrenmatt (19211990)
“Thoughts tending to content flatter themselves
That they are not the first of fortunes slaves,
Nor shall not be the last, like silly beggars
Who, sitting in the stocks, refuge their shame
That many have and others must sit there,
And in this thought they find a kind of ease.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Our frigate takes fire,
The other asks if we demand quarter?
If our colors are struck and the fighting done?
Now I laugh content for I hear the voice of my little captain,
We have not struck, he composedly cries, we have just begun our part of the fighting.”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
