History
The railway west of Brisbane, brought significant growth to suburbs close to the city such as Indooroopilly, Taringa & Toowong. The station was first opened on 14 June 1875 as Witton. It was renamed Indooroopilly in 1879.
In mid-2007, the Queensland Government, through TransLink, provided QR Citytrain with funds to upgrade Indooroopilly Station to improve disability access, attractiveness and security in and around the station. In July 2007, preliminary works began on Platforms 3 & 4, therefore closing both platforms to all trains. In January 2008, Platforms 3 & 4 were reopened and Platforms 1 & 2 closed for renovations. The station upgrades were completed in 2009.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“There is nothing truer than myth: history, in its attempt to realize myth, distorts it, stops halfway; when history claims to have succeeded this is nothing but humbug and mystification. Everything we dream is realizable. Reality does not have to be: it is simply what it is.”
—Eugène Ionesco (b. 1912)
“The principle office of history I take to be this: to prevent virtuous actions from being forgotten, and that evil words and deeds should fear an infamous reputation with posterity.”
—Tacitus (c. 55117)
“Bias, point of view, furyare they ... so dangerous and must they be ironed out of history, the hills flattened and the contours leveled? The professors talk ... about passion and point of view in history as a Calvinist talks about sin in the bedroom.”
—Catherine Drinker Bowen (18971973)
